How we started…

This foundation was formed in 2005 in an effort to teach our children that we are very blessed to have many freedoms because we are American citizens. We explained to them that our way of life was only possible because of the sacrifices our soldiers and their families make each and every day.  Our initial idea was to have a family style 4th of July celebration, each guest was asked to bring an item that we would then send overseas in care package.

Initially neighbors, family, and friends attended. Everyone enjoyed the event it also gave them a sense of pride as the war was very much a part of the lives of many Americans. The popularity of the initial event spread throughout the area and our foundation grew. The support we received from the local media in Cincinnati was tremendous and our donations for the care packages poured in. The attendance for the 4th For Our Soldiers event expanded exponentially over the years to over 5000 people paying tribute to our soldiers and their families.

In 2013 we decided to expand our efforts by providing scholarships to graduating high school seniors who have had their lives affected by their parent’s MILITARY service. Our first scholarship recipient was Ms. Jane Rudnick, whose parents both served in the MILITARY.

In 2014 A Holiday for Heroes again expanded to include not only educational scholarships but support grants to our MILITARY and First Responder families. The original and signature 4th For Our Soldiers event continues to grow.
